In 1970 when I was expecting my first baby, I made a small playpen quilt with the English paper piecing method. This took so long to finish, that I never had the time to quilt it through! Years later in 1988 I went to a Patchwork class given by Irma Hartsuiker. Her enthusiasm and much faster methods, American style, hooked me for life! I already loved working with textiles, but the freedom of design in patchwork compared to weaving, has me making new quilts all the time. Of course, as every quilter , I have become a fabric collector at the same time. In 1990 I was asked to help set up a quilt class locally with a friend, that started up a large group of keen quilters in Alphen and surroundings.
